Severe allergies and EPD Shots

I am a special education teacher who works with  a 14 year old boy with autism and suffers from severe allergies.  He has  underwent allergy tests and the doctor quit administering the tests as the  student reacted to everything that was being tested.  Tests were conducted for  both food and envioronmental.    The student’s mother is currently participating in a series of EPD Shots.  I  know absolutely nothing of these except that they are supposed to virtually  eliminate all or most symptoms and in two to five years time the special  restricted diet will be removed.    Does anyone know anything about these shots?  We are dealing with some  neurlogical problems and at this point there are numerous doctors involved and  none can agree on anything.

70 years old +

Earlier this evening I had a conversation with someone who said that “There are  no healthy people over 70 years of age with amalgam fillings”.  I was even challenged to find one.  It seems like an incredible statement, but does anybody on this list know  anybody in there senior years that are very healthy and who have amalgam  fillings

air purifier

I developed a sinus/allergie problem 5 years ago where  sinuses drain down into my throat.  Eating and especially drinking triggers  off a need to gag and cough up mostly transparent flem.    Tested by allergy specialist years ago, but declined to have 50 dollars a  shot treatment.  Tests he had show I’m allergic to dust and mites, among  other things…    ….I’m thinking about getting an air purifier.  Anyone had any success  from this?  Any suggestions on how large a unit I’d need?  I live in a  small 1 bed. apt, but would I need a large unit anyway.  I rarely can eat  anything, without having the urge to cough up.

question about fatigue

I am new to this forum and am interested in finding out some information  on a problem that I have that I suspect has to do with seasonal  allergies.  The problem is that I seem to be tired alot whenever the weather begins  to change over to spring.  It is as though I can’t seem to get enough  sleep this time of year.  I don’t want to get out of bed in the morning  and by the time I get home from work in the afternoon I am so fatigued  that all I can do is lie down and sleep for a while – some days up to an  hour (which is not the norm for me).  It does not even seem to matter if I sleep in.  I still get very tired  and sleepy later in the day.  Along with the tiredness is irritability.  For example, I slept in this  morning, and even after getting up I still felt somewhat tired and was  irritable all day until I finally took a nap this afternoon.  I also have problems with sneezing alot this time of year (it has not  started yet, but it will come.)  I have tried taking allegra before but  it does nothing for me.  I got a prescription for Claritin from my doctor  but it makes me drowsy.  Even if I take it  before going to bed, it still  seems to make me feel tired the next day.  If allergies are the cause of  my tiredness in the first place, I can’t see the point in taking  something that is just going to compound that problem and make me more  tired.  So, I refuse to take the Claritin.  This fatigue usually lasts for several weeks, but I seem to get better  and come out of it eventually.  However, it is extremely bothersome to go  through this every year.  It is very disruptive to my life and I do not  understand it or know what to do about it.  So, I would appreciate any  advice or info that anyone has to offer.

opinions about food allergies

I am new to this forum since last week and would like opinions about food allergies. I have had allergies all my life, including several food allergies. My symptoms have ranged from rashes to itchy eyes to colic (as a baby), and more recently I suffer brain symptoms including depression, anxiety and scrambled thoughts / confusion.

I did the ELISA/ACT test about 8 years ago, and just talked my alternative medicine MD into doing another one, since I have really been dealing with depression lately. I am very allergic to beef. I had been eating it again but now have stopped, and that helped some. But I wanted to know what other foods I may have developed sensitivities too, and the ELISA/ACT checks your whole blood cell’s reactions to over 300 foods, and identifies those foods that you have hidden or delayed reactions to.

Anyway, my MD has gotten really involved with selling certain supplements that are part of a direct-sales distribution system, and I’m not sure I believe what he is telling me. He suggested I could skip the ELISA test and have better results by using a 30 day detox program of fiber (psyllium husks / FOS), an herbal tea, and herbal capsules to remove parasites from the system.

While I believe cleansing the colon and detoxifying the system is a good thing to do, I doubt that it can remove a life-long or long-term allergy that is causing mental and physical symptoms like mine.

I’d be interested in what others have learned or observed about the relationship between allergies and “emotional” symptoms, and what you think of the above suggestions by my doctor.

I surely do appreciate finding this forum, and hope to be of help along the way as I have had quite a few experiences over my six decades of life so far. And I will tell you that if you are experiencing depression, anxiety, confusion, fatigue, etc. etc. they most surely CAN and ARE caused by allergies, even though the medical “establishment” often poo-poos the idea.

food allergies

I’m new to the forum. To be brief I’ve always been a very healthy person
other than hayfever allergies. About 3 years age I went to the island of Jamaica
and became very ill (severe diarrhea , fever, vomiting extreme fatigue.) I had
to see a doctor there. Upon return I came down with chronic fatigue syndrome
about 3 months later lasdting 2-3 months. It returned on and off for 3 years. I
went to puerto rico this past year and got very ill there from a fish dinner.I
never recovered. I had severe fatigue, low body temp hands sensative to cold,
aches .constipation. I was tested for everything and all came up negative
including parasites ( which to this day I still think I may have). I asked my
allergist to test me for food allergies. The results were allergic to wheat,
bananas, potatoes,peanuts,scallions,zuchini, peaches,nectarines,apples,egg
yolks. When I eliminated these from my diet the fatigue disappeared immediately.
I’ve had other tests done. The alternative doctor said high candida levels, and
giardia. I went back to my family doctor, was retested and it showed no
parasites .I have not been able to eat any of these foods for a year. Any help
or suggestions? I am on a rotation diet that I put myself on. Thanks  for any
help. Jack.

“True alternative medicine must understand who we are internally and
how we can balance ourselves chemically.”

“Medicine has a “warlike” mentality that is forever battling and
killing foreign invaders, therefore the overuse of drugs is normal
to their thinking pattern.”

“Once we see that all of our life systems are designed from our
external perception of who we are, instead of our internal
perception of who we are, we begin to understand that we have
created the very problems that are making us sick and are also
destroying nature, earth, and the universe. When our thinking and
speaking mind, loving emotions, and three-dimensional spirit senses
become unified they create our spirit consciousness, which is
eternally designed as the healer of our physical body and mind. When
we are physically living in harmony with our spirit consciousness,
we begin the healing process that prevents us from being susceptible
to disease.”

“Once we begin to realize the importance of our foods, water, and
air, in relationship to our internal healing and prevention, we will
clean up earth, our water, our soil, the air, and our overall
environment. When we look at the various systems of our society, it
is not difficult to see how little if any concern is given to
nurturing our food, air, and water resources. Since the medical
community has not generally been taught the importance of food, air,
and water in healing, we have many changes that must be made.”

“Of course we cannot function, perceive, and interpret with love,
truth, and equality, if this is not part of our thinking and living.
All of our systems have been built upon the basis of inequality,
untruth, and fear. Undoubtedly, there are some personal businesses
that do follow the spirit consciousness of ethical values, but for
the most part our society has its foundation built upon the
inequality of the male and female, which is the foundation of our
religious beliefs. Our religious beliefs have created the foundation
of all societies and countries. We have healed some of our
inequality, but we have not healed all of our inequality throughout
the world or we would not now be at war. War is primitive behavior
of uncivilized people who feel unequal. forumen to the language on
television, read the newspapers, and forumen to conversations between
people. We hear the language of war, fight, battle, kill, attack,
bomb, and on and on, but not often do we hear about equality,
communication, and love. All wars are fought over issues of fear,
untruth, and inequality. The present Middle Eastern wars are being
fought over the issues of religious inequality and fear. Does this
support our being flawed with fear beliefs? Think about the
foundation of our fear beliefs.”

“It is very important we think about ourselves as evolving human
beings. Who are we? Why do we create our life as we do? What are we
thinking? Where do we want to be? What do we want to create as our
passion? Who do we want as our partner in our life, our happy self
or our fearful self? Can we create equality externally if we are
afraid to be equal internally with ourself? What kind of world do we
want to create for our family? Do we want children to grow up in
inequality, lies, violence, and fear? We must learn to think, think,
think!!! When we think we can expand the neurons in our brain and
create thousands of connections that help us relate all of life to
ourselves. It is also important to know that we can expand our
thinking at any time in our life from birth to death. Our brain
neurons work with the use-it-or-loose-it concept. We are never too
old or young to think. We have been taught linear thinking, but we
must learn cyclic thinking. Cyclic thinking shows us where we have
been, where we are, and where we will be in the future if we refuse
to change.”

I am 49 and an asthmatic

I am 49 and an asthmatic (although it is well controlled with today’s  medicines). I have allergies to mold, dust, pet dander (but chose to keep  my pets and do not regret that decision) and some grains.    My medications are FloVent, Singulair, Uniphyl, Claritin-D and Flonase but  I take the last one when I feel I need to do so rather than taking it on a  regular basis.    Just recently, I have begun to wonder if my medications need to be adjusted  because I have started to itch at certain times of the day and end up  feeling as if I can’t stand it any longer.  It is almost similar to an  anxiety attack and that is what I really thought it was when I remembered  that many years ago I discovered my allergies because my back was itching  incessantly and I went to the doctor to find out I had red welts/hives all  over my back. I was asthmatic for many years prior to that episode but that  was the first visible sign of any allergies.    Just recently, in the evenings and in the early morning, my back starts to  itch, and then down by my ankles and  sometimes in my armpits. I thought it  was anxiety because I take medication for that, too, but hadn’t experienced  it in a long time.    The other night my legs were terribly itchy and I scratched and scratched  and scratched and saw the red welts beginning to appear all over my  legs.  That’s when I realized it was my allergies.    I assume this means my allergies have got worse.  The two Claritin-D  tablets I have been taking for years each day I feel is insufficient now  because they no longer last the full 12 hours. I have also put on weight  and I don’t know if that could be the cause, i.e. quantities need to be  adjusted.    I had a super allergist but stopped seeing him about four years ago and now  rely on my GP for the meds. It was right before I began to use Singulair  and FloVent that I stopped seeing him (due to a battle with the office  manager there – another story!)    I am still taking 20 mg of Uniphyl each day that I was taking for the  initial period when the FloVent and Singulair build up in your system, so I  don’t know if I should have eased off on taking the Uniphyl or not.  My GP  just gives me what I ask for because he is not an allergist.    Recently, I have been occasionally forgetful about taking Claritin and I am  wondering if I let things go to a point where there was no longer much in  my system – perhaps it takes regular doses over a period of time to  actually stop the itching – I don’t know.    Anyway, I would like to know why all of a sudden this itching has come  back.  I did acquire more pets over the last year having rescued a female  cat from outside only to discover she was pregnant! That would mean,  however, that it has taken a year for my allergies to worsen if this is the  cause.    Any help or advice would be much appreciated and I am very glad I found  this forum.

Introduction

I just joined this forum, I haven’t even spent any time lurking.  I’m just  jumping right in!  I have suffered from allergies, asthma, eczema all my  life and in the last 10 or so years have used asthma inhalers.  I will  often be wearing from 1 to 4 bandaids on my fingers from eczema.  I would  like to know how others cope with their allergies and if anyone has found  ways of overcoming these things.  Do I really have to get rid of all the  pets and livestock and live in a sterile environment?

Hi my name is Carl Wagner

I am new to the forum. Just a little about me – I am a Personal  Fitness Trainer in PA and 35yrs old. I have had severe asthma  problems in the past. When I was a little boy about 4 or 5 years old -  and I still remember this – I was in an oxygen tent because of how  bad my asthma was. I have had life long struggles with allergies as a  result. I especially had problems with allergies to cats.  At one  time I could not go into a house with a cat because WITHIN minutes I  would be sneezing and my eyes would water. It would not be long  before I would have to leave. Now I have no problem with CATS  anymore; which is good because my Fiancйe LISA had a cat before we  got married. THANKS TO OPC, I NOW LIKE CATS, CATS LIKE ME, AND BEST  OF ALL, MY NEW BRIDE LOVES ME. ; )    All I know is this product worked for me and a couple of friends that  I suggested it to. Perhaps it may help some of you also.
